Sleep Deprivation

So just when I think I'm getting used to the lack of sleep.. I fed Lucy at 4 this morning, put her to sleep and then had to pee. I go to wash my hands and for some reason grab my toothbrush, put toothpaste on it and start brushing my teeth. I brush my teeth and start flossing before I realize that I am not doing what I meant to do. Then I washed my hands and went back to sleep! Oh well, she's worth it and my teeth are REALLY clean.

Update From C-BUS

The latest from Columbus is that Lucy is now fitting in some of her clothes. This means I have been very busy playing dress up. We are having fun and enjoying the holiday season. We actually ventured out this weekend and went to the Ward Christmas Party on Friday and an ugly sweater party on Saturday. I have to say that Columbus and the Salvation Army have a much better selection of ugly sweaters. I can't wait to rock mine at the annual party we have with friends in Utah. Be prepared to be blown away. We had about 20 to choose from and had to narrow it down to the most ridiculous. Mine is so horrible, but the scary part is that I didn't win the contest. I came close but not close enough. Pics to come later, I can't ruin the sweater for upcoming party.

Here are some pics of Luce from this week, I have been a little concerned the past couple of days that Lucy will never know her name because every day I am calling her a new nickname, I can't help it. So far she has been Lucer, La Luce, Goober, Goobs, Tootie, Lucy Loo, Lucy Goosey, Goose, Gooser, Bug and today for some reason.. Babooshka (I'm assuming thats how it would be spelled, but who knows?) I blame this on my family, we called Jenny a million names and I am transferring this habit to my daughter. I'm going to try to narrow it down to just a couple, guess I'll keep trying nicknames out until one sticks.

Lucy falls asleep like this every night, her arms and legs stick straight out and she is as stiff as a board! You can see in this pic that Trent is barely holding her. This makes it very interesting to try and get her into her pj's or change her diaper. It is the funniest thing.

Just chiling in her swing, which she will only sit in if her fuzzy blanket is underneath her. Her hands are always freezing so I have to put socks on them. I have some of those mittens that are supposed to help them not scratch their face, but they are so thin they don't help keep her hands warm. I haven't been able to find mini mittens for babies, anyone have any suggestions?

A typical Lucy face. This is why I am always laughing. This was after her first day at church. She was very good, which was good for us.

Staying loyal to the Ohio State binky, unfortunately. I have been trying to get her to love a cute binky, but it is not happening. This makes Trent very happy, and just bugs me.

Family picture, I realize this is not a very attractive picture of me, but Trent and Lucy look so cute that I am officially taking one for the team.

Lucy Elizabeth is 4 weeks old

And we couldn't love her any more. She is the best baby, she just chills and makes her funny faces and grunts and Trent and I just go nuts. It has been fun having Geri here to enjoy her with us!

Happy Thanksgiving

We had a great Thanksgiving weekend with my family coming in town to see Luce. It was a little crazy but fun, with air mattresses all over the place and people fighting over whose turn it was to hold the baby, and yes I am talking actual fights. Jenny versus Michael can get messy.

It was extremely tough for me to have them leave this morning. It's always hard for me when family leaves or when I come back to Ohio from Utah, but with Lucy here it feels 1000 times worse, because I want to share her with all the people I love so much. I guess when my family was in Mexico I got burned out of having spending time with them seem like a special treat, Sigh. We are a close family and its hard to be far apart.

Anyway enough of my whining, we really have so much to be thankful for as usual, especially this year. We are incredibly blessed with this beautiful little girl - who we love so much. It really is funny how she has been with us for 3 weeks and we already can't imagine what life would be like without her. I am also so grateful for our family and friends who are always there for us with so much love and support, and for Trent who is so patient with me & my hormones and is such a good person, husband and dad.

Happy Thanksgiving, can't wait until Christmas

P.S. If anyone else is into renting TV show seasons on DVD and watching them like we are, you have to start Friday Night Lights season 1. AWESOME, but don't start it if you don't want a new addiction.

First "Real" Photo Shoot..

Last week a photographer came to our house and take some pics of La Lucy. She sent me these as a "sneak peek" and then we will get a web gallery full of pics to choose from. I love all of them so far so I think I am in trouble. Check out her receding hair line, it kills me. I took Luce to the Dr. today because she has been a little sick, and she has gained a pound and a half in less than two weeks! Aaah. She is getting so big its craaaaasy.

2 Weeks Old

These past couple of weeks have gone by so fast! Lucy is such a good baby. I think that Heavenly Father knew I needed a low maintenance baby, seeing as how I typically have been known to have panic attacks when I hold little ones under 6 months. Their crying is so scary! Lucy's crying is not so scary, good news for me. Now the only thing I am still concerned about is public nursing... I really am not sure I will ever be coordinated enough to nurse with a blanket without flashing people. There is just way too much going on. Anyway, she really is our little buddy and I just love hanging out with her. I laugh at her all day long, she really does have such a funny personality. This picture is her typical face she pulls, when she was born she cried out once and they gave her to me and she just sat there and stuck her tongue out at me and Trent for about 1/2 hour. Cute now, probably won't be so cute later...

Late Night Photoshoot

What does my mom do when she is up with Lucy at two in the morning?? A photoshoot of course, with Lucy and her stuffed animals. She is so crazy funny, its been awesome having her here. She has been shocked by all the basic items I am lacking in my kitchen, and we are having fun watching Lifetime and looking at Lucy.

Here are a couple more pics that we have taken the past few days. It was her first gameday and Trent was pumped about her Ohio State outfit, and all the other pics I basically just walk around with a camera and take them all day long. I feel totally disconnected from the outside world, so I hope everyone is doing well! P.S. Janae thanks for the bows, I love them!

Hanging Out

Here is what we have been up to the past couple of days. . . Everything has been great, she is doing really well, except for the part where she stays up all night and sleeps all day. Hopefully we get that figured out soon. The only thing that makes me sad is that she won't be this small forever. At the doctor today I teared up when they said she had gained 3 ounces and grown 1/2 inch since she was born, I'm a huge nerd. She is 50% in height, 25-50% weight and 50% head size in case anyone was wondering which I'm sure no one was, but now I have it written down so I don't forget! Also, I am so happy that Doug & Geri are home, now I can see more pictures of Lucy's cousin OWEN, (hint, hint Erin) who was born not even a week before she was, so he is pretty much her new best friend.

Lucy Loo Day 3

I feel like it is Christmas morning because we are finally home! They had to have us stay a bit longer because Lucy had to do some antibiotics but everything is fine and I know I'm biased but she is pretty much the cutest thing I have ever seen. You have no idea how much everyone's love and support has meant to us. It has been the most amazing few days of our life that is for sure. Love you everyone! More pics, because that is what moms do.
