TELLING THE TRUTH.

Lucy: MOM, I want to play Dora Saves the Crystal Kingdom!

Me: No Luce, we are leaving right now to go to dance.

Lucy: But MOM - I'M TELLING THE TRUTH! Pleeeeeease can I play Dora..

Me: No.

Telling the truth is currently her answer to everything. She isn't quite sure why that isn't a game-changer.... at least girlfriend isn't lying to me :)

4 weeks

I can't believe Ruby Jane is 4 weeks old today.. talk about the slowest and somehow quickest month of my life. We love this cuddly little Ruby Tuesday. One thing Ruby does not like to do is SLEEP. She had her first 4 hour sleep stretch of her life (night or day) last night, and I think it was my little one month survival present. Even during the day she fights and fights and fights falling asleep. She will be awake all day long and then be so tired and fussy. She will be out for the count and doing fluttery REM eyes, and the second she is out of my arms and into a swing, bassinet or bouncer.. I can count to 30 and yep - those eyes are wide OPEN! At least girlfriend knows what she wants. We don't want any wimpy girls around here :)

What - you suckers actually think I'm falling asleep???

FAKE OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Valentine's Day Part Deux..

So the other fabulous part of V Day this year is this crazy story I like to call.. The Gift of the Magi - with a Happy Ending.. or The Tale of Two Watches..

For Christmas this year I forbid gifts and asked for money to spend when I was no longer a giant. Lets face it clothes are no fun when you are 8 months along.. Anyway, I was dying to use my cash on this beauty.. be still my heart.. Michael Kors Rose Gold Boyfriend Watch.

I showed it to Trent, obsessed over it, tried it on twice.. searched online to find the best deal... and ultimately decided I just couldn't pull the trigger even using Christmas money...

Fast forward to the first week of February.. in typical my dad fashion, Steve-o calls me up and asks me for ideas on what to give my mom for Valentine's Day.  He is a smart man not to attempt this on his own... Luckily this year I had the perfect idea. I couldn't buy this watch for myself, but my dad could definitely buy it for my mom! I ordered it online with his credit card and had it shipped to my house because my mom would be in Cbus for V day helping me out with Rubes..

Feb 14 rolls around and I cannot wait to give my mom this watch. I know it is going to rock her world.. That afternoon Trent is dying to give me my present.. I burst into "I just had a baby so I cry all the time" tears when I open it and it is the WATCH!!! He had bought it for me with HIS Christmas money...  I was in shock. I think it might be the nicest thing he has ever done for me and hands down the best present of all time. So incredibly thoughtful and unexpected.

My mom sits there and tells me how beautiful it is, and how she loves the color and would love to have a watch just like it... I wait until later that day and tell her that my dad had something sent for her... And she opened Watch #2!!! And loved it as much as me.. We both got a killer surprise for V Day, and now we have twinner watches.. Randomly, my mom and I also went shopping the day before Ruby was born and got Trent and my Dad the same shirt from H&M for their present.. They didn't cry when they opened their gift though... not sure why..:)

Valentine's Day Part One

Wow. I got 5 hours of almost uninterrupted sleep (Lucy woke up twice yelling MOM I HAVE A GIANT BOOGER!) for the first time since the babe was born so I am feeling super motivated to catch up on the blog. Let's start with Valentine's Day.. What a fantastic V Day we had this year..

Our brand new Valentine! Nicknames given to Ruby by Lucy include... Roobsy Rubes and Rooooby Tuesday (said in some kind of accent!) She also likes to say Oh You're so TINY, in a high falsetto.. Also, so I don't forget, she made up a new word.. Betowards.. as in Mom, put my jewelry box betowards my picture.. Genius right?

Lucy, of course, was so excited for this holiday. She made Valentine's all day long and loved getting them from her friends and family.

Trent always does a special Valentine from Dad that he doorbell ditches her with.. Check out the pic below to see whether or not it was a hit!

Luce got spoiled, big shocker. She finally got the smock, beret and palette she has been dying for.. and got right down to serious artistic business.

Our little buddha.. Gosh she is so cute, we love this little bug so much..

My saving grace.. what a hottie.

Lucy needed some special attention so Trent took her to the Daddy-Daughter Sock Hop at the library. We curled her hair, dressed her up, she insisted on makeup and a tiara. What a cute couple. They tore up the dance floor - or so I heard..

The only thing that could make her any cuter would be for her to sleep more :)
