Legend..wait for it..dary.

Some weekends pass right on by as nothing special and some weekends are quite simply the bomb... This past weekend was one of the great ones.

It started with a doubleheader GNO Friday. My friend Kendall and I went to the traveling Broadway production of Annie. As a side note I cried twice during the show.. What is it about being a mom that makes you unable to process the thought that any child is an orphan?? I am an emotional mess!

After Annie we met up with a group of girls to go see the 11:00 showing of 17 again. We are a bunch of cradle-robbers - but after you see that movie I think you might understand why. I mean COME ON the car scene? The whole time I was begging Zac Efron NOT to turn back into Matthew Perry. Think I can talk Trent into a leather bomber jacket and aviators?

I signed up for a soccer team and Saturday morning was our first game. It was my first outdoor, regulation-field full-out game in 5 years! And it was incredible. I was running around the field and I teared up because it was a Saturday morning and I had just laced up my cleats. It sounds ridiculous but I feel like typing what a blessing, because that is what it was. We lost, but I feel it was a moral victory because I played 80 minutes of soccer without passing out or dropping dead. I really appreciate Trent for supporting me when I feel like I need to do these things. He was so great to bring Lucy and break out the camping chair and watch me play. I had my own personal cheering section and it was perfect.

Later that day we hit up one of the many fantastic parks in Columbus to have a BBQ with some friends. What is it about the spring weather that suddenly turns me into such a cheese ball that loves every minute of life? Its supposed to rain tomorrow so I know it can't last. That Vitamin D is some strong stuff. If Trent is smart we will apply for residency programs somewhere warm - think of the possibilities if I could be this nice year round.

P.S. The nursery countdown IS ON! Only 1 more week until Lucy is legal!
P.P.S. If you don't understand the heading on this post. Do yourself a huge favor and rent How I Met your Mother on DVD. What I'm about to say may shock you - its funnier than the Office.

Easter Egg Hunt

This weekend was a perfect example of why having a little one is so much fun. We took Lucy to her first Easter Egg Hunt yesterday and it was awesome. I'm not sure what I was expecting an Easter Egg Hunt to be like for a 17 month old, but at the park there was a large circle of little toddlers and parents with tons of eggs in the middle of the circle. Suddenly they blew an air horn and it was a free for all to grab the eggs.. Definitely not much of a hunt! Lucy loved it and caught on fast. The best part was that she kept putting the eggs into other kid's baskets.. Once she figured out they were full of candy we didn't have that problem anymore. The whole thing was over in less than 3 minutes and she got a great haul.. Bunny tatoos, pirate eye patch, candy - good stuff. All in all it was a huge success :)

P.S. Note specifically written to my mom - you can click on the collage to make the pics bigger. Just a little tip to make you tech-savvy.

Marley and Me.. and Lucy.. and my Mom..

Lucy spent a ridiculous amount of time on our trip to Utah visiting my parents next door neighbor's animals. Wow that was a lot of descriptive terms. They have a lab named Sioux and horses across the street. Lucy would pound on the door and say puppy, puppy, puppy until someone would take her out to visit her new friends.

Monday I was the sucker who took her to see Sioux.. I was holding Lucy and she was drinking her sippy cup. All of the sudden Sioux jumped up and grabbed the sippy out of Lucy's mouth and ran off! My mom and I chased her for 15 minutes until we finally got it back. My mom was yelling MARLEY, MARLEY because we had just watched Marley and me the night before and Sioux looks like his long- lost twin.. I swear if I am as funny as my mom one day I will die happy. Here is Sioux (Marley) enjoying Lucy's orange juice.

Lucy also tried to ride a horse.. which lasted about as long as it took to take this photo.

P.S. On the flight home Lucy spit her milk on the person sitting next to me, drew on my face and threw my IPOD across the aisle. But I forgave her because she learned to say Jesus, Barbie and House. I swear she is so naughty sometimes it shocks me. Can you imagine this bug as a teenager? It's already giving me nightmares. It takes 3 timeouts for her to stop doing something and even that only lasts a day.

I'm a little behind..

Life has been a little crazy lately and I'm way behind on my blogging - since this blog is my journal/scrapbook this post is to remind myself of all of the things I need to write about...
  1. Winning the ward chocolate dessert contest. A MORMON baking contest. I have never been prouder of anything in my life except for taking 2nd place in the mile at the junior high track regionals.. I would never let my mom teach me to sew or cook growing up because I swore I would be a career woman and hire a maid. When I called her and told her about my victory she shed a few tears of joy.
  2. Work trip to NYC - too quick to do anything fun, but I got ripped off by a cabbie. Jerk.
  3. Tay left on his mission - so sad. I miss him like crazy, he is the best kid ever and we were lucky to be able to be in town for his farewell and to take him to the MTC. I realized how much I missed him when we went to play our soccer game Friday night and barely lost.. If Tay had been there we would have won for sure. Sigh.
  4. Lucy + Graham = hilarious
  5. Lucy + Sioux the puppy + a sippy cup = hilarious
  6. Trent's trip to St George
  7. Trent's trip to the Championship game in Detroit.

I guess if I never get to posting about all these things at least I have them somewhere...
